www.dragon-antiques.com Stunning Large Antique French Gilt Brass Rococo Clock Set, by AD Mougin ~French – Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A stunning and large original antique French gilded brass clocks set. It is of the most beautiful Rococo style, waisted case decorated with ‘C’ scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral swags. Candelabra have 5 elaborate acanthus arms and large original snuffers to match the final of the clock. The pendulum can be glimpsed swinging below the front of the case. This is a stunning, very large clock set with a superb original gild. The beautiful, large enamel dial is lettered with the Brussels retailers name and is complete with the original finely cut gilt brass hands and convex glass. The French movement is by AD Mougin and has the clockmakers mark on the movement backplate. It is of excellent quality and is in very good clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a large sonorous bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. Stunning Early Ormolu Clock The Vintner ~French – Circa 1860 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully working ~~ A fine and early original antique French ormolu (gilded bronze) clock by Vincenti and retailed by Rollin of Paris. It features a beautifully modelled scene of a Vintner crushing grapes to make wine. It is exquisitely detailed and of excellent quality, being gilded bronze rather then the more usual gilt spelter. The original gilding is in stunning condition with hardly any wear and has a lovely bright and clean finish. The dial is enamel on copper with original blued steel breguet hands and floral bezel. This type of clock does not have a glazed bezel. The French movement is of high quality and has both the Vincenti (Medaille D’Argent 1855) clockmaker’s mark and also the retailer’s mark of Rollin Paris on the backplate. It is the earlier version of Pendule De Paris movement with outside hammer return spring. The clock case unusually has the movement serial number stamped into it confirming the case and movement to be original to each other.
